Did dwarfism have an effect on finding your personal style?
Definitely, as a little person it’s so hard to find clothing that can fit my body. Growing up I always felt insecure that I couldn’t “fit in” by following the latest fashion trends like the rest of my peers. The lack of fun and fashionable clothing available for my body definitely drove me to create my own.
I feel like I’m healing my inner child now with the clothing that I make. I’ve accepted the fact that my body wasn’t made to “fit in” and make clothing that is tailored and special to me.

Walk me through your creation process.
Most of my creations are inspired by visuals that I come across. I’m most inspired by art pieces or photographs vs. already made clothing.
For example, for my lily pad vest I was scrolling on Pinterest and saw a photo of lily pads and then I got the idea to create a clothing piece inspired by that.
I see the rough visual of the piece in my head before I make it and do all the planning there- no drawings or mock-ups. I always act on my ideas within the day or week I think about them because I get so excited and need to make it come to life.
Does expressing yourself through your clothing help you feel more confident?
100% I feel like the clothing I make almost acts as my “shield”. I know that I stand out because of my dwarfism and I get a lot of stares and at times remarks.

When I wear the clothing that I make I get more positive comments that are about my outfit and rarely about my dwarfism. It’s really helped with my confidence as I’m less nervous to go out in public and on the harder days it’s like a way for me to mentally deflect the stares as I think, “they’re not staring at me just because of my dwarfism but because of the cool art I’m wearing.” Whatever works right?
Fashion School! What are you looking forward to?
Oooo a lot of things! I am really looking forward to making more art and being in a creative environment.
I am most excited for the Disabled Program that I got into that will help support me through fashion school and connect me with a community of people who share the same desire as me; to make the fashion industry more inclusive and accessible.
